Red Boys
Since the painting looks so much like me as a kid, I've collected Master Lambton 'relics' since the thrift stores of the Atlanta area jumped from about 2 to about 50 back in 2001. Frequently, like so many other old famous portraits of very young boys in red, Master Lambton is frequently called "Red Boy." When I saw the band moniker Red Jump Suit Apparatus pop up as I was surfing You-Tube, I figured Face Down would be an interesting music video for me. It was.
At wikipedia, they confirm that Master Lambton is more commonly referred to these days at The Red Boy. In the Red Jump Suit Apparatus video, such a disgruntled spirit portrayed in their Face Down video is not Master Lambton. Red Jump Suit Apparatus is more likely to be one named after one of the other Red Boy paintings. I've put many others here who are also dressed in "Red Jump Suit Apparatus."
For the most interesting 'Red Boy,' let's step back to my Mom and Dad's wedding, the pregnancy, the Berlin Wall... It was all August 1961, and that year artist Jean DuBuffet painted Boy in Red Costume. He's worth around $100,000 today, but he is not based on a real kid. It's 'bemusing' that Jean DuBuffet's Boy in Red Costume has an airplane on his face. (This DuBuffet painting is three images below this text.)
For Mom and Dad's wedding, the Druid Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta that did not have the chapel available for a Spring wedding, so the wedding, the pregnancy (I was born 9 months and 2 weeks after the wedding), the wall.... it was all in August 1961. LIFE magazine ran a wedding special with 2 RED BOYS on the cover in their June 16, 1961 issue. It was the wife of Prince Max with the two boys in "red jump suit apparatus," as you see in the photo below.
Take a look at Freddy Bartholomew in this 9 second clip from Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936). Notice how he places one foot under his thigh, assuming the same sitting pose as Master Lambton did in the 1825 painting by Sir Thomas Lawrence. My point is that the Master Lambton face has dominant DNA anomalies associated with it, and the Master Lambton face is one that shows up frequently as time keeps moving forward.
