Prince Wilhelm from the Prussian Empire
The earliest reference to the Hollis family via anagram comes from Prince Wilhelm, but we haven't looked very hard yet.
1882-1951
Friedrich Wilhelm Victor August Ernest (1882-1951) of the House of Hohenzollern was the last Crown Prince of Prussia and the German Empire. The 1882 “family tree” anagram from Germany seems to compliment the Hollis clan with its recognition of some geneoloical relation. The Prince Friedrich anagram is: “TREE GIFT, MR. HE’S LUCINDA HOLIS’ CREW VIRTU.” With this anagram, you note that like on the 1880 Bibb County GA Census Report (below), 'Holis' is spelled with only one 'L.' Prince Wilhelm's title was lost in 1918.
